  • About Us

We are an Owner/Operator family celebrating two generations in the adventure tour business. Our mission is to make our guests tour experience, the highlight of their visit to Puerto Rico to explore the beautiful beaches, snorkel crystal clear waters teeming with marine life, and to get to know the friendly islanders of Culebra and Vieques, the Spanish Virgin Islands!

    Environmental & Social Responsibility

Our business depends on a healthy environment to be successful. Our highest priority is the care and preservation of the reefs we explore and the beaches we visit. All of our tours are conducted in a manner that minimizes our impact on the environment. The sea life, flora and fauna that we encounter in our excursions are shared with our guests in an ethical, respectful manner we strive to leave every beach, reef and trail that we explore, cleaner than when we found it. We teach proper snorkeling etiquette such as the importance of not walking on, or touching the coral reefs, which can harm the fragile underwater ecosystems. SS Tobias also volunteers in beach clean-ups, and maintaining trails. Whenever possible, we patronize local Puerto Rican businesses to meet our needs.

    Our Boat

Our Tour Boat, the SS Tobias is a Newton 46' Special and was specially designed and equipped with unique features to enhance the safety and comfort of our passenger/guests experience as we navigate the beautiful beaches, cays and islands of eastern Puerto Rico, Culebra and Vieques.

The Tobias can carry up to 40 adventure guests, with storage bins for snorkel gear and incidentals. At the stern of the boat is a water entry platform with dual Sea Ladders providing easy exiting and boarding access. Plus, after an invigorating snorkel session, our guests will rinse off with one of two fresh water deck showers.

    Basic Snorkeling Safety Tips
Here are some important but basic tips to help you keep safe and having fun while snorkeling:

Swim with a friend. Many accidents occur when people are alone. But swimming with a friend won't help if you don't stick together and watch out for each other.

Make sure that you are familiar with your equipment. A correctly fitting mask, fins, and snorkel make ocean enjoyment and survival much easier.

Take care of yourself. Make sure you are well hydrated when you enter the water, use sunscreen, and don't push yourself beyond your comfort or skill zones. That means you should not push your partner beyond their comfort and skill level.

Be aware of the ocean and yourself within it. Know what currents are present, the size of waves and swell, and wind speeds, and any other potential hazards. And continue to be aware of these things throughout your snorkel, because they will change. This also means being aware of boat traffic, as it is a real hazard.

Don't touch marine life. This is for your own good and the good of the sea life.
